Four learners from Ceredigion, attending Welsh classes at Llangeitho and Lampeter, organized by Ceredigion County Council and tutored by Carol Thomas won prizes at the Merched Y Wawr 50 year festival held recently in Machynlleth.

Jane Unitt from Llwyn-y-groes won the second prize. Aidan Jones from Tregaron, won the foundation level prize for completing a form and Dionne Sherwood of Llangeitho came second.

Both attend the evening learn Welsh class in Llangeitho.

Activities commenced with a guided tour of the Library where learners got special access to the Library's 6.5 millon collection of books, newspapers, maps and artwork.

We saw the earliest manuscript (dating from 1878) of 'Hen Wlad fy Nhadau' the Welsh national anthem.

Across six sites you can access a huge range of full-time and part-time courses including A Levels, Professional Development, Welsh for Adults and Higher Education.

We also work with thousands of employers offering Apprenticeship and Traineeship opportunities with strong links to local employment.

They were presented with a slate trophy, certificate and a book token each. The National Library of Wales was the perfect setting on Saturday 22 April 2017 for a new festival to give Welsh learners and their families the chance to speak and socialise in Welsh in a fun setting, outside of the classroom.
